Aquarius arrives in the depths of winter, carrying fresh ideas like water to a thirsty world. If you're an Aquarius, you see things differently, dream bigger and care deeply about making life better for everyone, not just the people in the room.
Personality
Traditionally ruled by Saturn and, in modern astrology, by Uranus, the planet of surprise and invention, Aquarius combines a steady mind with a love of the unexpected. You're original, inventive and happily unconventional. You question how things have always been done and imagine how they could be done better.
Aquarius is the sign of community and friendship. You care about causes, fairness and the big picture, and you often have friends from every walk of life. You value independence, yours and everyone else's, and you'll always encourage people to be true to who they are. Being a little different isn't something you hide; it's something you celebrate.

In love
For Aquarius, love begins with friendship. You want a partner who's also your best friend, someone who respects your independence, shares your curiosity and loves your quirks. You show love through loyalty, honesty and inviting your partner into your big dreams. Once you commit, you're steady and true.
As a friend
Friendship is where Aquarius truly shines. You collect friends from all over, you're endlessly accepting and you're the one who rallies people around a good cause. Your friends feel free to be completely themselves around you.
At work
Aquarius thrives where innovation and purpose meet. Technology, science, activism and any field focused on building a better future suit you. You do best with freedom, creative room and a mission that matters.
Taking care of yourself
Make time for your weirdest, most wonderful interests. Join a group or community that shares your values. And let someone close see your softer side; you don't have to have it all figured out.
Myth and history
In Greek myth, Aquarius is often Ganymede, a handsome Trojan prince carried up to Mount Olympus by Zeus's eagle (the nearby constellation Aquila) to become the cupbearer of the gods. He's pictured pouring water from a jar, which flows down toward the Southern Fish.
Babylonian astronomers called this figure the Great One and linked it to the water god Ea. This region of the sky is full of watery constellations, including the Fishes, the Sea Monster and the Dolphin, and was sometimes called the Sea. The famous 'Age of Aquarius' refers to the spring equinox point slowly drifting from Pisces toward Aquarius over the coming centuries.
Dear Aquarius, the future needs people like you. Keep being gloriously yourself; you give everyone else permission to do the same.
