Cancer arrives with the first days of summer, and it brings a warmth all its own. If you're a Cancer, you have a deep instinct to care for people, to make them feel safe, seen and at home. Your home and the people in it are your whole world, and you protect them fiercely.
Personality
Ruled by the Moon, Cancer feels everything, and feels it deeply. Your moods may shift like the tides, but that sensitivity is also your intuition at work. You can walk into a room and know who's hurting, who needs a hug and who needs space. People trust you with their hearts because you handle them so gently.
Like the crab, you have a protective shell and a soft center. You might seem reserved at first, but once someone earns your trust, you're the most loyal, generous friend they'll ever have. You remember birthdays, keep old photos and hold onto family traditions, because to you, memories are treasures.

In love
Cancer loves with their whole heart. You're romantic, devoted and attentive, and you show love by taking care of your partner: a home-cooked meal, a warm blanket, a listening ear at the end of a long day. You need a partner who feels safe, values family and is gentle with your feelings. When you feel secure, you'll build a love that truly lasts.
As a friend
You're the friend who checks in, remembers what was going on last week and shows up with soup when someone's sick. Friends become family to you, and your home is often the gathering spot.
At work
Cancer thrives in work that lets you care for people or create a sense of belonging. You do well in roles that use your intuition and emotional intelligence, and in workplaces that feel like a team or a family.
Taking care of yourself
Make your space a sanctuary: clean sheets, a favorite meal, a quiet night in. Water helps you reset too, whether it's a bath, a swim or just the sound of rain. And let someone take care of you for a change.
Myth and history
In Greek myth, Cancer is Karkinos, a giant crab sent by the goddess Hera to distract the hero Heracles while he battled the many-headed Hydra. The crab nipped at his foot, and Heracles crushed it. Hera honored the crab's loyalty by placing it among the stars.
The Tropic of Cancer got its name because, about two thousand years ago, the Sun stood in front of this constellation at the June solstice, when it reaches its farthest point north. Because Earth slowly wobbles on its axis, the Sun now sits in Taurus at the June solstice, but the name stuck.
Dear Cancer, the love you give the world is a home for so many people. Remember that you deserve that same tenderness too.
