Capricorn begins at the winter solstice, the darkest day of the year, when the light starts its slow return. If you're a Capricorn, you understand that patience and hard work build something real. You set big goals and climb toward them one sure step at a time.
Personality
Ruled by Saturn, the planet of time and structure, Capricorn is wise beyond its years. You take responsibility seriously, you're reliable when it counts, and you have a talent for turning dreams into practical plans. People often lean on you, at work and at home, because they know you'll handle it.
Capricorns can come across as serious at first, but anyone who knows you knows about your dry, clever sense of humor. You also tend to get more playful and relaxed with age; many say Capricorns grow younger as they grow older. Underneath the ambition is a deep desire to take care of the people you love and build a secure future for them.

You do best with someone loyal, patient and supportive of your goals, who also helps you relax and enjoy the moment.
As a friend
You're the friend who gives practical, honest advice and always keeps your word. Your friendships grow stronger with time, and the people in your corner know you'll never let them down.
At work
Capricorn is the zodiac's natural executive. You thrive with clear goals, room to grow and the chance to build something lasting. Leadership, management, finance and any field that rewards expertise and persistence suit you well.
Taking care of yourself
Schedule rest the way you schedule meetings, because it matters just as much. Spend time in nature, especially mountains and old trees. And let yourself enjoy what you've built.
Myth and history
Capricorn is the sea-goat, a creature with the front of a goat and the tail of a fish. The image comes from ancient Babylon, where the goat-fish was the symbol of Ea (also called Enki), the god of fresh water and wisdom. That makes it one of the oldest symbols in the zodiac.
Greek myth tells how the god Pan leaped into a river to escape the monster Typhon, and the half of him under water turned into a fish. The Tropic of Capricorn is named for this sign, because two thousand years ago the Sun was in Capricorn at the December solstice. Today it's in Sagittarius at that moment.
Dear Capricorn, you've carried so much so well. You're allowed to put some of it down and simply enjoy the view.
